Make.com cost depends on the current plan, billing period, credit allowance and the work each scenario performs. Check Make’s live pricing page against your expected usage before buying. Older fixed Core/Pro/Teams price tables can mislead when plans or credit tiers change.

Start With the Current Quote

As checked September 14, 2026 (UTC), Make’s public page lists a Free plan with 1,000 monthly credits and paid pricing selected by credit volume and billing terms. Record the plan name, allowance, billing period and displayed total together. A monthly equivalent under annual billing is not the same commitment as paying monthly. Use the checkout quote as the purchasing reference.

A useful comparison worksheet has one row for each workflow: what triggers it, how often it runs, the modules it uses and the outside services it calls. Add separate lines for implementation and maintenance. The subscription price alone cannot tell you what a working customer workflow will cost.

Credits and Operations Are Different Terms

Make explains its billing unit in Credits and its transition from operations to credits. Many ordinary module actions consume one credit; some AI and other specialized features use different charging rules. An operation describes module activity, while credits measure billable consumption.

Do not estimate cost simply from the number of boxes in the scenario editor. Inspect a representative execution, including bundles, repeated steps and branches. Write down the actual credits consumed and what happened when a connection failed or data was missing.

Build a Usage Estimate From a Pilot

For a hypothetical lead workflow, assume an execution uses four credits and runs 500 times in a month. That gives a starting estimate of 2,000 credits. These are example inputs, not a promise about a particular connector. Replace them with your execution history.

Then test the less common paths: duplicate submissions, missing contact details, a failed CRM update and a retry. Estimate their frequency and add their observed usage. Include scheduled checks that run even when no new customer arrives. An apparently cheap workflow can become expensive if it polls too often or processes the same record repeatedly.

Keep a buffer based on your busiest expected period. Set an owner to check usage and errors after launch, with a clear decision about when to change the plan or pause a malfunctioning workflow. A usage alert should lead to an action, not just another unread email.

What Happens When Credits Run Low?

Review the options available in your account before connecting business-critical traffic. Make documents purchases and plan changes in its extra-credit guidance. Auto-purchasing, when available and enabled, creates spending authority; do not assume every account automatically buys credits or that a published unit price applies to every tier.

Test the operational fallback separately from billing. If an allowance is exhausted, your team still needs a way to see unprocessed inquiries and handle them. Preserve the last successful checkpoint so restarting a workflow does not create duplicates or skip records.

Include Costs Outside Make

Your workflow may also use a phone provider, email service, AI API, enrichment service or CRM plan with paid API access. Price those independently. Decide who owns the accounts and who receives warnings about limits or expired credentials.

Implementation work includes mapping fields, checking permissions, testing retries and documenting the handoff. Ongoing work includes reviewing failed executions and adapting to changes in connected systems. Record that time in the comparison even if the owner does it personally.

Avoid assuming that a longer scenario always costs more because of elapsed time. Check the charging rule for each module; do not apply a specialized execution-time rule to every ordinary connector.

Compare Platforms on the Same Workflow

Make credits, Zapier tasks and n8n execution or hosting arrangements are not interchangeable units. Draw the same workflow on each candidate, test a representative run and compare the full cost at the same business volume. Also compare error recovery and the staff effort required to maintain it.

Our n8n vs Make cost comparison and alternatives to Zapier and Make provide evaluation questions. Verify current vendor terms rather than relying on an old plan name or a claim that one platform is always cheaper.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Make.com free?

A Free plan is listed on the current pricing page. Check its allowance and features against the workflow you intend to run, including whether it needs paid services outside Make.

What should a small business budget each month?

Use your measured credit consumption, current plan quote and outside-provider costs. Add maintenance and a deliberate usage buffer. There is no single monthly amount that fits every small business.

Must I upgrade when usage exceeds the first paid tier?

Compare the available credit-volume options and features in your account. Do not assume an older plan ladder still describes the available choices.

Can Make support an AI workflow?

Evaluate the required AI connection along with its data handling, usage charges and failure behavior. Test the actual task before relying on it for customer traffic.

How do I start without overcommitting?

Choose one workflow, establish the manual baseline, run a controlled pilot and inspect execution history. Expand after you understand the cost and the recovery process, rather than buying a large allowance on an untested estimate.
